I love embroidery, and was excited at the easy learning curve. Although there are hundreds of different stitches and techniques to learn, with just a few basics under your belt you can create beautiful art. I started teaching as a way to encourage other people to embrace this craft. It's affordable, easy to transport, and very relaxing. What more could you want?
I'm always looking for new venues for teaching. I update this page with any upcoming classes. If there are none available, I will bring the class to you - put together a group of friends, co-workers or club members. I charge a flat fee of $200 for up to 8 people. Please use the form on the contact page for more information.
A two and a half hour class includes all materials (hoop, needles, floss and your choice of pattern) and an introduction to the craft. We'll talk about the kind of fabrics that work best, how to maintain proper fabric tension, basic color theory and the many options for creating your own style. I'll teach you a few basic stitches and let you loose on your first project.
I've started doing kids' classes - so much fun! These are a little shorter - 1.5 hours seems to be as much as the littles are interested in. I've got some simple designs that have proved very popular - this is a great birthday party activity! Prices range from $150-$200, depending on the size of the group. Contact me for more info.
